. . .Depending on when you read this, you may still be in time to visit the Bo’ness Speed Hillclimb on September 1st, 2nd and 3rd.  There is no classic car show as such but expect to find classics in the car park and several MGs competing on the hill.

. .There are quite a few MG events this month, the first being the ‘September Jaunt’ on the 10th ably organised by Mike Pelling. Starting at Dobbies at Lasswade the run will be through the Borders and will end in Biggar, giving Mike a short drive back home!  More details are on the website, check and book there.

. .And on the 8th and 15th there are another two Coffee and Cars informal get togethers, the first in East Kilbride and the second in Strathaven. No need to book, just turn up with your MG!

. .But the BIG event is MG100 Ecosse at Doune on the 17th. This should be the largest gathering of MGs in Scotland for many years with all the major MG clubs working together on the day. You may still be able to book a place, check our website, but if you cannot then just come and enjoy the spectacle.

. .Just over 10 years ago the Caledonian Centre hosted the European Event of the Year in Aviemore, with 350 MGs and 700 people from all over the world.  It was a memorable event and one not likely to be repeated, for a great variety of reasons! Last month a few of the large organising team returned to Aviemore to relive past memories. It was quite creepy being back again with many memories of who was there and what took place! I was the only one in the group still owning the MG used on the event, my ZTT, but unfortunately it had an electrical gremlin and was unable to return, my Trophy took its place. Pic shows MacBenji returning home!

. .Don’t forget that your committee will soon be planning next year’s calendar. If you have any suggestions for events or, perhaps more importantly, would like to assist the committee then please get in touch.

August Ramblings

. .The show season is rapidly drawing to a close but I am pleased to say that the Centre continued it’s winning ways by taking the Best Stand Award at Thirlestane!  We have quite a record there!. .I missed Glamis, was a strange feeling that weekend after all these years. Seemed to be a good day.
. .For both events we were grateful to Paul Snee for helping transport the Centre trailer to Thirlestane and Glamis. MGs with tow bars are scarce! In fact, Peter Jung’s RV8 is one of the few, it brought the CarBQ.
. .The next show event is the MG100 Ecosse event at Doune on September 17.  This will be the main Scottish event celebrating 100 years of MG production and probably the largest gathering of MGs in Scotland since the old MG Ecosse days, remember them?  We already have a good number of entries, but more are welcome, please check our website for info and booking details. Your entry fee of £10 requires to be paid in advance.
. . Most of you will recall the Classic Car Shows at Bo’ness.  The Hillclimb itself is running this year, 85 classic car entries, but no show as such, although classic cars are very welcome. That is on September 2/3.
. .Our One Day Run this month is on August 27th. Off to the Secret Bunker not that Secret now sign posts every where! Willy Scott is organising. Full details are on the website CLICK HERE, please check and BOOK EARLY!
. .And the September (aka the Borders Jaunt) run is on the 10th, Full details are on the website CLICK HERE Mike Pelling the organiser. There is a lot of work involved in organising even a one day event, they have interesting routes and decent eating places, please support them!
. .And the Coffee & Cars events continue at Calderglen Café, East Kilbride on 12th August, and the Heron Farm Shop near Strathaven on the 19th August. Details on the website.
. .Surprisingly perhaps, the committee will soon be looking at an events programme for 2024, if you have suggestions then get in touch and more importantly if you would like to assist then PLEASE get in touch. Your help would be appreciated.
. .That’s all for now, enjoy your MG summer!
. .You will know we are looking for additional committee people.  If you would like to know more or think you can help, please let Nancy Crichton our Secretary know.
