Our 2022 Satellite Run, starting from various points to converge at one point for lunch, took place on Sunday   10th April 2022. This was our first run of the year and the first Satellite Run since 2019 due to Covid, so great to see it back!

Having just two start points this year, each around 50 miles, the West run started with breakfast at Caulders Garden Centre, Cumbernauld. The ten cars then left to tackle the Tak-Ma-Doon Road via Carron Bridge, where the climb opened an amazing viewpoint for people and cars to catch their breaths.
Satellite Run P EdgarThe East run is where I started from, with breakfast at Scott’s Bar & Restaurant, South Queensferry. The eight cars left to first cross the Forth and climb up through Crossgates, and Hill of Beath, before changing direction in Kelty. Crossing the valley (down and up again) to Cleish and through Crook of Devon, Yetts o’Muckhart and Glendevon. After an extremely short stint on the A9, it was back to single track roads (the best surface ever this time for a few miles!) before travelling through the scenic Sherriffmuir area and then descending down beside the Logie Burn, to traverse a fantastic hairpin bend
and down into Stirling.
Our destination was the King Robert Hotel where eighteen cars collected in the carpark and over thirty of us gathered in Bruce’s Bistro, where lunch was enjoyable soup, sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee. Everyone enjoyed a really good natter to catch up with each other and discuss our experiences of both run routes.
The Satellite Run was a well-attended good start to our ‘car’ events for this year in the calendar. The mix of cars were pleasantly varied, from an MGA, MGBs, MGRV8s, an MGZT, MGFs, MGTFs to MG3s.
The Battle of Bannockburn Experience, next door to the hotel, was an option for people to attend after lunch, but not sure if any of us went to this. I decided to visit the famous 15th Century Stirling Bridge I’d glimpsed when driving into Stirling.
